Ski Trip 2006 to Les Menuires
After having discussed Ischgl in Austria and some Swiss resorts, the decision was finally made to go to the Three Valleys Les 3 Vallées. We were very happy with Les Arcs last year so another French resort was high on the wish list.
We stayed in Les Menuires, in the upper part of the village called Reberty, which was rather calm, almost too much so.
But the ski area is huge and fantastic, and we were also lucky to pick the right week, which was difficult this year. When we were there it was clear and sunshine all days but one. And we still got some fresh snow in the beginning of the week to practice some off-piste skiing!
The cosy apartment with open fire place
(tested once - we almost choked in the smoke...)
Ready to ski in front of the favorite bar.
Further back, to the left, the apartment hotel.
I believe this is Les Menuires village,...
that some of us never visited because it was so
far away from Reberty!
Che, Richard and Kevin at the top of the
Bruyeres gondola. (Red appears to be the
colour to wear!)
The aprez-ski bar at Reberty - the only place to be after the lifts
had stopped, and there we remained until it was empty!
Ken's family - wife and daughter just having tested
the snow conditions outside the bar.
Che and Richard indulging a meal of oysters
in Meribel. Yum!
Willy managing the Raqlette equipment. Richard takes a snowboarder break on the way
down to Meribel... Before the long horrible
transportation route when Kevin had to help
him out, offering a pole.
Checking out the Meribel - Courchevel link at Vizelle, with a gorgeous view of
Aiguille du Fruit in the background.
The airport in Courchevel.
We had the most expensive lunch just beside it,
surrounded by the "jet-set".
View of the magnificent Mont Blanc, as seen from Val Thorens.
